Mega Warehouse Fire: An Excellent Training Opportunity (The Secret List)

All,

The Springdale Fire Department (Cincinnati area) and the National Fire Sprinkler Association will be hosting the Frontline Leadership- Lessons Learned from a Mega Warehouse Fire in Indiana training class onWednesday, July 22, 2026, from 08:00-15:00hours.  This class will be located at the Vineyard Church- Springdale 11340 Century Circle East Springdale, OH 45246.

Please see the attached flyer and scan the QR code to register.  There are only 350 spots available! Lunch will be provided and there is no charge for this class.

This training session will discuss a major fire that occurred in a 1.2 million square foot Walmart Distribution Center on March 16, 2022, in Plainfield, Indiana.  This seminar will highlight key findings from this incident, as documented in National Fallen Firefighters Foundation’s report, “Incident Analysis, Mega-Warehouse Fire, March 15, 2022” https://www.firehero.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/mega-warehouse-fire-incident-report.pdf.  Today’s fire service faces growing challenges when responding to fires in massive warehouse facilities (some buildings are now exceeding 4 million square feet), we are no exception to this problem in so many regions.

You will hear firsthand lessons learned from both Deputy Chief John Dixon and Lt. Matt King from the Plainfield (IN) Fire Territory who responded to this complex mayday incident.  Shane Ray and Ron Ritchey, from the NFSA will be presenting as well.

Below is a link to the documentary ‘When the Sky Turned Black’ that the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation created about this fire that captures the efforts of the Plainfield firefighters and the lasting impacts of this devastating fire:

This is an excellent opportunity well worth the travel if you or have members who are available.

Take care. Be careful. Pass it on.
