WOMAN CHARGED AFTER CANADIAN APPARATUS CRASH

A 73-year-old woman has been charged in connection with a crash that took a fire truck out of commission.

The crash happened on Nov. 11 at the intersection of Cedar and Charles streets. The woman was travelling west on Charles when she collided with a Kitchener Fire truck with its lights and sirens on.

The truck left the road and hit a hydro pole. The truck, a pumper, sustained significant damage to its front end. Another truck from the Kitchener fire fleet was brought in as a replacement while repairs were made.

On Monday, police said they had charged the driver, a Kitchener woman, with failing to stop at a red light
