By Bill Green, The Frederick News-Post:
A New Market ambulance on its way to a fire call was involved in a crash with two cars late Tuesday afternoon.
The ambulance was responding with other first responders to a reported fire at Pasquale’s Pizza on Md. 144. The crash occurred on Main Street at Eighth Alley shortly after 5 p.m.
Four people were taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital with minor injuries, New Market District Volunteer Fire Company Chief Benjamin Nalborczyk said at the scene.
The chief reported the two first responders on the ambulance and one person from each car were taken to the hospital.
According to Deputy 1st Class Anthony Reggio of the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office, the drivers of both cars yielded for a firetruck, but one driver pulled onto Main Street in front of an ambulance, causing the crash. That driver was charged with failure to yield to an emergency apparatus.
