A pubwatch’s zero tolerance approach to assaults on ambulance crews has resulted in a dramatic drop in alcohol-fuelled attacks on paramedics.
Liverpool Pubwatch revealed there had been no reports of incidents involving ambulance crews in the city centre since the campaign began nine weeks ago.
Customers in pubs and bars throughout the city centre were warned that anyone committing an assault on ambulance personnel would be banned from every Pubwatch premises in the area.
The warning followed a serious assault on a paramedic which resulted in an ambulance taken out of service.
The pubwatch initiative involved more than 1,000 posters distributed around pubs, bars and clubs warning drinkers about the ban.
