COLUMBIA, S.C. — Crews have successfully rescued all firefighters who were initially caught inside a Columbia apartment fire on Friday afternoon.
The fire happened at Tropical Ridge Apartments off of Stoneridge Drive near Greystone Boulevard and was initially called in as a two-alarm blaze in a three-story building.
However, the fire was elevated to three alarms when Chief Aubrey Jenkins said at least two firefighters had been caught up in the burning building. At the time, Jenkins said one had made it out and they had been able to communicate with the remaining firefighter.
