(KNSI) — Officials in Wright County say five people were hurt in a crash involving an ambulance in Buffalo Township Thursday night.
Authorities say an Allina EMT was driving the ambulance with another medic and a patient on board west on County Road 34 Northeast when a driver in a Toyota RAV 4 traveling north on Eaken Avenue Northeast pulled out from a stop sign in front of them, causing the two to crash. The EMT was going the posted speed limit, and the red lights and sirens were not activated. The patient in the ambulance was already being taken to a hospital after being involved in another crash nearby.
The driver and passenger in the RAV 4 were taken to North Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The two medics suffered minor injuries, and the patient they were transporting suffered additional injuries and were taken to Buffalo Hospital.
