EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – Police were called after an EFD firetruck was involved in a crash Sunday afternoon in downtown Evansville.
Dispatch confirms that the accident happened near the intersection of S.E. 6th Street and Cherry.
Our 14 News crew on the scene said an SUV had damage to its side and a fire engine also had damage to its front end.
A firefighter we spoke with tells us the accident was caused by a misunderstanding. Officials say the fire engine was on its way to an emergency run when the accident happened.
That intersection was closed for a little while but has since reopened.
