BRUSH TRUCK OVERTURNS EN ROUTE TO FIRE – MISSOURI

MILLER COUNTY, Mo. — Two firefighters were injured after overturning in a brush truck Sunday afternoon on Route A.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 40-year-old man from Eldon was driving a large fire apparatus belonging to the Tuscumbia Fire Protection District around 2:10 p.m., Nov. 16, when it went off the roadway.

The FPD said the engine was responding to a natural cover fire at the time.

The driver reportedly overcorrected, causing the truck to begin sliding. It then overturned and crossed to the other side of the road, coming to a rest on its top east of Highway 17.

A 50-year-old man from Eugene was also in the truck, and was taken via ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital with moderate injuries. According to the fire district, the “Jaws of Life” had to be used to extricate him from the vehicle.

Tuscumbia FPD said both men were ok, and reportedly released later that evening.
