Ambulance crashes near Amanda – Ohio

AMANDA — Nathaniel H. Phillips Jr., 67, of Williamsport, was driving a Pickaway Plains ambulance north on state Route 674 at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Phillips failed to negotiate a curve and ran off the right side of the road and down an embankment, which caused the vehicle to flip onto its roof, according to a report from the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office.

The ambulance was not carrying anyone at the time of the crash.

Light snow and slick spots on the road probably contributed to the accident, a deputy said in the report.

Pickaway Plains medics took Phillips to Berger Hospital in Circleville on complaints of back pains.
