| Palo Alto – An ambulance taking a patient to the hospital in Palo Alto experienced an accident Monday morning. Four people were injured after it crashed into a tree and flipped over on its side. The incident was reported about 11am on University Avenue near Chaucer Street. University Avenue was closed to traffic while the wreckage and victims were cleared out. According to the Fire Department, when first responders arrived at the accident site, two of the EMTs from the crashed ambulance were working on the patient who was being transported and aother EMT was lying on the sidewalk. All four were taken to Stanford Hospital. The original patient is said to be in critical condition. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
