SCOTT COUNTY, Va. (WJHL) — The Fort Blackmore Volunteer Fire Department said one of its firefighters faces a “long road to recovery ahead of him” after a firetruck was involved in a rollover crash Saturday.
The department said one of its firetrucks was responding to a structure fire on Natural Tunnel Parkway to provide mutual aid when it was involved in a single vehicle rollover crash.
The firefighter in the unit reportedly self-extricated himself from the truck and was taken to the hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.
The fire department thanked the Dungannon Fire Department, Scott County Life Saving Crew, Scott County Sheriff’s Office and Virginia State Police for assistance.
“Our firefighter will have a long road to recovery ahead of him,” the Fort Blackmore Volunteer Fire Department said. “Requesting everyone to keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers.”
