LOUISA COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Two firefighters were hospitalized after a single-vehicle accident overturned their fire truck in Louisa County on Saturday afternoon.
On Saturday, Sept. 19, Louisa County said in a post that a Louisa Fire Department fire truck from the Trevillians Fire Station was involved in a single-vehicle accident on Oakland Road while the crew was responding to a vehicle fire.
The fire engine was driving south on Oakland Road near Louisa Road when it ran off the right side of the road, Virginia State Police said in a release on Sunday, Sept. 20. Police said the driver overcorrected, which caused the truck to cross the road, enter a yard, overturn and come to rest upright.
Officials said both crew members on board, the 24-year-old driver and 26-year-old passenger, were taken to a local hospital for treatment and are in stable condition.
The men were wearing seat belts, police said. No other vehicles were involved, and the crash is under investigation.
