All,
This is a brief message from Gordon Graham-asking to please pass this on to your local municipal water department, water district, wastewater agency etc.
“One of the things that has always impressed me about the fire service is the commitment to learning, preparedness, and protecting the communities we serve. Those same values are essential in the water and wastewater profession, where leaders are increasingly called upon to make critical decisions in the face of uncertainty.”
“Many volunteer Firefighters and off duty career Firefighters also serve their communities as water treatment professionals, utility employees, public works staff, or members of local water and wastewater boards. Others work closely with those who do.”
“With that in mind, I wanted to share an opportunity that may be of interest to you or someone in your network”
Registration is now open for the Fall 2026 Certified Public Risk Officer – Water & Wastewater Risk Manager Cohort, a professional designation developed specifically for the water and wastewater sector.
The Water & Wastewater Risk Manager Cohort helps utility professionals strengthen their ability to make informed, risk-based decisions by providing a practical enterprise risk management framework and implementation roadmap tailored to the unique challenges facing water and wastewater utilities today.
Participants learn how to:
=Make better, more defensible decisions by managing risk across the enterprise
=Strengthen collaboration across operations, engineering, finance, and leadership
=Apply practical tools such as risk registers, scenario planning, and risk transfer strategies
=Build an actionable roadmap for implementing enterprise risk management within their utility
The Fall Cohort begins September 25, 2026, and includes six live virtual sessions complemented by asynchronous coursework designed for immediate application in the workplace.
If you know a water or wastewater professional who is passionate about improving decision-making, organizational resilience, and public service, I would be grateful if you would consider forwarding this announcement to them.
