A Richmond (VA) firefighter was recovering Wednesday night after falling through the floor of a burning home. Earlier this week, two other firefighters, in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, also feel through floors during separate fire incidents at unoccupied dwellings.
“I wanted to get back up and go do the job,” Lt. Mike O’Prandy told CBS 6 from his Chesterfield County home Wednesday afternoon, despite his potential injuries.
Firefighters were reportedly responding to a fire in a duplex under construction; the structure had holes in the floor and lacked railings, the report said. A Mayday was declared when O’Prandy fell on the fireground, but he was quickly rescued.
RICHMOND, Va. — At Fire Station 13, they are thankful. Several firefighters had to sound a mayday alarm Tuesday after one of their own fell through the floor of a burning Church Hill home. That firefighter, Lt. Mike O’Prandy, was still recovering Wednesday night and told CBS 6 how grateful he is for his family and second family.
