As most of you know I generally “lean” just a little bit left of center. I know, it’s crazy but I believe in freedom, liberty, human rights for all, taking care of those who can’t help themselves-you know, American stuff like that.
Anyway. The below is absolute insanity and bullsh!t. When the American flag comes down for any reason-it reflects a loss, a surrender, giving up….and the fact that this Massachusetts college decides to remove the American flag because it’s a distraction?!
Absolute bullsh!t.
If there was ever a time to display the American flag outside your home, on your personal car, on your uniform, on your fire apparatus or whatever-now might be that time.
The American flag isn’t a political party symbol. It’s not right wing, left wing, republican, democrat, libertarian or independent. It stands for all of us. ALL of us.
I’m all for freedoms and my actions and words have always reflected that-but removing the symbol that strives to stand for freedom, that reflects and stands for so much-and the limbs that have been lost fighting for what it stands for, and those who gave their lives for what it stands for is wrong. Removing the very symbol that allows you to even think about removing that symbol is wrong. Removing the American flag and all it stands for and strives to stand for is like removing the foundation of a structure…what happens next?
Protest. Change. Debate. Challenge. Vote.
Absolutely-whatever it takes to make a point and impact change.
But remove the American flag? Never.
