A woman is dead and several people, including two children, are in hospitals for injuries sustained when a car struck an ambulance in Henry County Friday evening.
“Pretty much everyone involved was injured,” Major Jason Bolton of the Henry County Police Department told the AJC.
The crash occurred around 6 p.m. when a Chevrolet Monte Carlo traveling south on Hwy. 1941 turned left onto Hwy. 81 — and into a northbound ambulance.
The man who was driving the car will likely face charges, Bolton said. That driver and a child in the car were injured, and a woman in the car died.
Police were withholding her name pending notification of next of kin. Bolton said she had an out-of-state drivers license.
The ambulance was conducting a non emergency transport and was not speeding, nor were its sirens and flashing lights activated, Bolton said.
A couple emergency workers and passengers in the ambulance — a mother and her child — also were injured.
All involved were taken to hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, Bolton said.
