Late this afternoon, the Hooversville VFD tanker (Shade Township in Somerset County, PA) was responding to a brush fire when they were involved in a vehicle accident around 1530 this afternoon. Initial reports are that 2 Firefighters were heavily entrapped in the fire apparatus…they were injured…but reports are that the injuries are NLT…updates will follow.
A Shelby Township (Michigan) Firefighter and a 65-year-old woman were injured in a crash yesterday after the woman tried to squeak by on the right-hand side of the fire apparatus headed to an emergency. The rig was headed to a car fire when it tried to turn right…the woman went into the curb lane and tried to go around them,” and actually ran into the side of the truck and the rig was making a wide turn. Neither had life-threatening injuries and the woman will likely face charges of failing to yield to an emergency vehicle.
