TOWER LADDER CRASHES WHILE RESPONDING TO FIRE CALL IN CONNECTICUT

A house fire in Hampton (CT) resulted in the crash of a tower ladder from Scotland (CT). When firefighters arrived, they found the house consumed by flame and smoke.  "The majority was already gone," said Noel Waite, Fire Marshall for the town of Hampton.

No one was in the home, according to officials on the scene.  Someone walking by the house called the fire alarm in.

The only injuries were minor and they resulted from an accident involving a fire vehicle from nearby town of Scotland rushing to the scene.   The volunteer fire department in Scotland identified the two firefighters in the crash as Chief Daniel Syme and Deputy Chief Scott Cormier. "One of the mutual aid company’s trucks went off the road and hit a tree," Waite said.
