Woman spat in face of a paramedic – Ireland

A WOMAN was arrested after spitting in the face of a paramedic, after she was brought to the Emergency Department of Our Lady of Lourdes in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The woman in her 20s was restrained by a number of gardai after she was found to be in a highly intoxicated and agitated state.

She was said to have been extremely aggressive, and was charged with assault after she spat in the face of the paramedic who had brought her to the accident and emergency department by ambulance.

Meanwhile, gardai are investigating a spate of break-ins and burglaries in the Westcourt estate, Termonfeckin Road, over the weekend.

Beginning on Friday night between 10pm and 2am, a rear door was forced, but apart from criminal damage, nothing was taken. Cash was stolen in the second robbery the following day, after thieves gained entry though the front door at around 6pm.

A large amount of jewellery and cash were taken in the third incident, which took place after a rear window was forced at around 6.30pm on Saturday.

Finally jewellery, cash and a laptop were stolen when a side window was forced open in the same estate on Sunday at 4pm.

Drogheda gardai have also received four reports of credit cards being used without the owner’s permisson after they had been used to buy goods online.

A garda spokesman said to make sure the website you are using is a credible one, and to use a payment system like Paypal, if shopping for Christmas presents on the internet.

‘Four separate people have reported credit card fraud this week, after they had used their cards to purchase goods online,’ said the senior spokesman.

‘In all cases the website were foreign, with the credit card usage being traced to Miami and Amstedam, so we are urging people to be extremely careful where they use their card, and contact their bank immediately if this occurs.’
