EAST MEADOW –– An early-morning crash between a motorcyclist and ambulance proved fatal. It happened shortly before 7 a.m. Monday. Police said Jeffrey Paz, 39, of Levittown, died in the accident at Hempstead Turnpike at Merrick Avenue. According to published reports, the ambulance was transporting a patient and using its emergency lights and sirens at the time of the crash. The motorcyclist was pinned under the front bumper of the ambulance.
