Two firefighters in Lawrence were injured as they spent much of Saturday night knocking down a fire inside of a mill.
"What we’re dealing with essentially is a roof fire, an old mill building heavy timber construction,” Lawrence Fire Chief Jack Bergeron told FOX25.
The fire impacted two of three buildings that are connected at a central location.
It’s been a challenge according to Bergeron, who says the fire reached four alarms.
One firefighter was in need of medical attention after being hit in the head. Another firefighter was also taken to the hospital with breathing difficulties.
The buildings were empty when the fire broke out. Both firefighters are expected to be okay.
