A 21-year-old Ocala (Florida) woman died Friday (this morning) when she crashed her car into a stationary Sumter County fire apparatus. The fatal wreck happened at 0253 hours as the truck was parked on northbound I-75 near Wildwood. The fire truck was on scene for a previous crash. The fire apparatus had its emergency lights on, but the driver failed to observe them, colliding with the rear of the truck and suffering fatal injuries.
Fortunately, THERE WERE NO FIREFIGHTERS (or other responders) BETWEEN THE APPARATUS AND THE TRAFFIC.
Our condolences.
