KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WCHS/WVAH) — Three people have been hospitalized after an accident involving a Boone County ambulance and three other vehicles, and ended with the ambulance crashing into a fire station.
Charleston police said the ambulance was leaving CAMC Memorial when it got a call to respond in Boone County. The ambulance ran the red light at 50th Street with its lights and siren running when the accident happened.
Two people in a Boone County ambulance and one from another vehicle were taken to the hospital Friday evening, according to first responders on scene. There were no patients was in the ambulance.
The ambulance also crashed into the Kanawha City fire station in the 5000 block of MacCorkle Avenue Southeast causing significant damage to the building, according to firefighters.
Police said there were several firefighters in the station during the crash, but nobody was injured.
The ambulance has been deemed at fault in the crash, according to Charleston police. Those in the ambulance had minor injuries, according to Boone County EMS officials.
No information has been provided on the third person was taken to the hospital.
