Flames, smoke inside of truck on neighborhood street –
A fire truck caught fire in Nyack at about 4 p.m. today. The
truck—from West Harrison—was in the area for a drill, authorities said.
The incident occurred near the Birchwood Avenue and Midland Avenue
intersection.
The inside of the truck caught fire, smoking up the vehicle’s
interior and smelling up the entire block. Authorities have not yet
confirmed what caused the fire.
The flames were extinguished shortly before Patch arrived.
Firefighters hauled a hose into the burning truck to douse the
flames. They alternated between combating the blaze and resting due to
high temperatures.
