HALIFAX COUNTY, Va. (WSET) — A former fire chief for the Clover Volunteer Fire Department was injured Friday afternoon in a crash while en route to a call.
The crash happened just before 3:30 p.m. on May 30, on Newbill School Road in Halifax County.
Virginia State Police said a Clover Volunteer Fire Truck went off the left side of the road and the driver overcorrected, overturning the truck off the right side of the road. At that point, the truck’s tank detached from the truck.
VSP said the sole occupant was flown to a hospital, but did not specify the extent of their injuries.
The Clover Volunteer Fire Department posted to its Facebook page, identifying the injured as Bert Martin, the department’s president and former chief. The department is asking the community for prayers.
