All,
Odds are, a single family dwelling will be the next fire you turnout to. The aggressive balance between getting inside (search, rescue, fire attack etc) and coordinating ventilation has a well documented history. A history of success-as well as failures that have led to the loss of civilians, firefighters and property. Coordination between companies operating is often a challenge..
The new “Analysis of the Coordination of Suppression and Ventilation in Single-Family Homes” online training course is now available via the FSRI Fire Safety Academy. This is the third and final course to be released from the Coordinated Fire Attack Study and examines the results and tactical considerations from the single-family residential structure experiments. These experiments were conducted in eight single-family homes and are detailed in our previously released research report.
HERE is more about this course:
“THOSE” HOUSES.
We have all used those FIRE SAFETY HOUSES to teach kids and adults fire safety, escape etc. The guy who invented them (and provided free plans to anyone who asked) is retiring…here is a little bit about Fire Marshal Dave Cherrone, of Clay Fire, South Bend, Indiana…thanks and CONGRATS!
