A 2008 Pierce engine fire truck owned by Midway Volunteer Fire Department sustained extensive damage Sunday evening following a wreck that occurred on Buckshoal Road when the fire truck was responding to a house fire on Hudson Road.
According to Midway Volunteer Fire Chief Brent Inscore, 25-year-old Anthony Hull of Buffalo Junction, an engineer with Midway VFD, was driving the fire truck when a car ran him off the road causing the vehicle to overturn landing completely upside down on its top.
Hull was transported by rescue squad to Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital “to get checked out,” Inscore said.
The accident occurred at 8:20 p.m. as the truck was traveling to a house fire at 4060 Hudson Road that reportedly was caused by a lightning strike during a severe thunderstorm that passed through the area Sunday evening.
