A Los Angeles County Firefighter was shot and killed and another was injured at a rural Los Angeles County firehouse in Agua Dulce this morning. The body of the gunman (another Firefighter) was found at a burning home that was on fire nearby. The shooting took place at about 10:50 a.m. at LA County Station No. 81 on Sierra Highway.
The 44-year-old male on-duty Firefighter, who had worked with the department for over 20 years, was killed in the shooting. The 54-year-old on-duty Fire Captain sustained a gunshot wound and was in critical but stable condition after being airlifted to Henry Mayo Hospital in Valencia.
The shooter was an off-duty Firefighter who then returned to his house, barricaded himself, set the house on fire and was later found deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot. Media is reporting the shooter and the murdered Firefighter had some kind of on-going dispute between them.
Agua Dulce is located about 40 miles north of Los Angeles, in LA County. Our condolences to all those affected. Rest In Peace.
