UPDATE: GRESHAM FIREFIGHTER RETURNS TO WORK AFTER NEARLY A YEAR AFTER SEVERE BURNS

GRESHAM, Ore. (KPTV) – A Gresham firefighter who was severely burned in a duplex fire nearly a year ago returned to work Monday.

On May 30, 2024, Spencer Tejedas was on the scene of a duplex fire on Southeast 182nd Avenue near Southeast Madison Way when he and two other firefighters ran inside believing a child was trapped. It turned out that wasn’t the case, and the fire quickly grew out of control as they searched.

Tejedas suffered severe burns on nearly half of his body, while the other two firefighters were treated for minor injuries.

Tejedas spent months in treatment and rehabilitation before being able to return home back in September.
