Two firefighters were injured while battling a second-alarm fire that caused a Mundelein home to be uninhabitable Saturday morning.
The Countryside Fire Protection District and Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded around 9:20 a.m. Saturday to a report of a structure fire in the 26200 block of Maple Avenue in unincorporated Mundelein.
A downed power line reportedly caught the roof of a house on fire, according to fire radio traffic.
Fire crews arrived and found the fire on the roof towards the back of the house and a power line down in the backyard, according to Countryside Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Russ Bach.
ComEd assisted in securing the downed power line, Bach said.
Bach said two firefighters were injured. One of them was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, he said.
