Hey…
We deeply regret to advise you that Ms. Heather Westphal, Manager of Membership Marketing of the International Association of Fire www.IAFC.org horrifically drowned Sunday while on family vacation on the Hawaiian island of Kauai. Heather began working for the IAFC in February, 2007. The 33-year-old Westphal and her 39-year-old sister-in-law, Tonya Cataldo of Parker, CO, were walking along a ledge when they were both swept out to sea by a large wave-as witnessed by many family members.
The latest information is here from Dave Statter:
Please check www.IAFC.org tomorrow for official release and related information on this terrible loss. We had the pleasure to work with Heather on numerous occasions and she was exactly what any association would want managing the membership program. She was professional yet a pleasure to be around and work with and was one who truly understood the unique needs of an association and it’s members, such as the IAFC.
While not a Firefighter, there are so many people who support what we do in so many critical ways each and every day…and clearly, Heather was the perfect example. This is a deep loss to the IAFC, the Fire Service but most critically, her surviving husband (who unsuccessfully attempted a rescue) and her entire family and friends. Rest in peace.
Take Care-BE CAREFUL.
