A fire on the first floor of a District Heights residence the afternoon of June 29 left four people injured. The fire started around 1 p.m. It spread to the second floor and fire officials learned that several residents were possibly trapped in the home, located in the 6300 block of District Heights Parkway. While searching for victims, one firefighter exited through a window to escape a flashover on the second floor. One male adult was transported to a nearby hospital along with three firefighters. None of the injuries were life threatening, according to the Prince Georges County Fire Department. Investigators estimate damages to cost $20,000. The cause of fire is under investigation.
