KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — A driver was killed Wednesday in a crash with an ambulance on FM 470 in Kaufman County, officials said.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a 2015 Hyundai Elantra was traveling north on FM 740 when a CareFlite ambulance, with its emergency lights on, was traveling south.
DPS said that traffic was backed up, and the driver of the Elantra entered the southbound traffic lane and crashed into the ambulance. Inside the ambulance, DPS said, was a driver, three passengers and a patient. None of the ambulance’s occupants were injured in the crash, DPS said, but they were all taken to the hospital for evaluation.
