TEXAS FIREFIGHTER STRUCK BY VEHICLE AT SCENE

POLK COUNTY, Texas — An East Texas firefighter was hit by a vehicle while directing traffic Wednesday for an emergency response.

According to the Goodrich Volunteer Fire Department in Polk County, one of its crew members was directing traffic and wearing a high-visibility vest and operating with emergency lights. The first responder had minor injuries and was able to walk away from the area.

“This incident is a serious reminder of the risks first responders face while serving our community — and how important it is for all drivers to do their part to keep them safe,” the Goodrich Volunteer Fire Department said.
