TEXAS FIREFIGHTER INJURED IN ROOF COLLAPSE AT APARTMENT FIRE

A firefighter sustained minor injuries Friday while battling a three-story apartment fire in Pflugerville.

Pflugerville firefighters responded to the 14000 block of Renaissance Court, where they encountered “heavy fire conditions and a partial roof collapse,” according to the fire department.

The firefighter was injured during the roof collapse and is being treated and evaluated, officials said. No residents have been reported injured.

Firefighters continued active firefighting and search operations as of the department’s latest update. The cause of the fire remains unknown.

In a statement it was stated that approximately 40 firefighters were actively working to contain the fire, which has extended between multiple floors and into the attic.

Officials estimate that up to 24 apartment units may be affected, and crews continue to assess the number of residents who may be displaced.

The Travis County fire marshal’s office will investigate once the fire is under control, according to the fire department.
