We regret to pass on to you that a Firefighter in Knysna, South Africa (West coast area) died in the Line of Duty after suffering 70% burns at a wildland fire that is now under control. Another firefighter has burn injuries of 50% and is critical condition.
The fire started earlier this week, impacting much of Knysna and its surrounding areas and up to 10,000 people have been displaced following the wildfire.
A total of 10 deaths have been linked to a storm that hit Cape Town and the surrounding coastline on Wednesday, causing floods and high winds that fanned deadly fires.
