All,
UL’s Fire Safety Research Institute has launched their latest training program:
“Search and Rescue Tactics in Single-Family Single-Story Residential Structures”
It’s an online no cost program that covers tactical considerations stemming from FSRI research to minimize occupant and firefighter exposures during search and rescue operations in single-family, single-story residential structures.
Derived from their Residential Size-up and Search & Rescue Operations, the course includes supplemental materials that can help Firefighters continue the conversation around the firehouse as well as conduct their own Time to Task drills.

A NEW CHANGE….IN RELATED FIRE SERVICE NEWS:
FSRI is going to be the team to develop the new NFIRS (soon to be called NERIS) platform.
UL’s Fire Safety Research Institute (FSRI) has been awarded a contract through DHS to develop a new, interoperable fire information and innovative analytics platform for the American fire and emergency services.
The new platform, which will be known as the National Emergency Response Information System (NERIS), will be developed by FSRI in collaboration with USFA) and with support from DHS’s Science and Technology (S&T) Directorate. NERIS will equip the fire and emergency service community with empirical tools and actionable analytics that support decision-making for enhanced preparedness and response to incidents involving all hazards.
NERIS will replace the legacy data system, the National Fire Incident Reporting System (NFIRS), with a secure cloud-hosted platform, the targeted transition timing of which is slated to begin in 2025.
