MISSOULA, Mont. — A Park County Rural Fire truck was involved in a crash Tuesday morning while responding to a wildland fire call south of Livingston.
According to the fire department’s public information officer Danielle Babcox, at 11:53 a.m. on August 19, dispatchers paged crews to a reported fire off Caledonia Road. Due to the potential threat to life and property, firefighters responded with lights and sirens. While en route, one of the trucks was involved in a collision with another vehicle.
Some responders continued toward the fire while additional resources were dispatched to the crash scene. First responders arrived within minutes and assisted both the firefighter and the driver of the other vehicle.
No serious injuries were reported. Both individuals sustained only minor injuries such as cuts, scrapes, and whiplash. The Montana Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
Officials emphasized that the incident serves as a reminder to remain cautious on Highway 89 South, which has seen increased traffic from growth and tourism.
Community agencies stepped in to assist during the incident: Paradise Valley Fire assumed command of the wildfire response, while Livingston Fire & Rescue aided with medical care and traffic control. Dispatchers, towing services, sheriff’s deputies, and Montana Highway Patrol also played key roles in managing both emergencies.
