RESPONDING AMBULANCE CRASH IN OH

A crash on Center Street in Mentor late Monday morning sent four to local hospitals — including two Mentor firemen.

At 10:42 a.m., the Mentor Fire Department responded to the crash, which occurred on the Center Street bridge between Mentor Avenue and Tyler Boulevard, Battalion Chief Joe Busher said.

A Mentor Fire Department ambulance was heading southbound on Center Street in response to a call at Parker Place, 7960 Center St.

As the ambulance crossed over the bridge, a northbound 1994 Pontiac Bonneville driven by a Mentor-on-the-Lake woman, 45-year-old Marion Cushman, apparently went left of center to pass a northbound 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix.

In the act of passing, the Bonneville struck the oncoming ambulance. The ambulance then went left of center and struck a northbound 1993 Ford F-150, both of which came to rest along the east side of the bridge.

Cushman was extricated and transported to Lake Health’s West Medical Center in Willoughby. She was subsequently flown via medical helicopter to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland. As of 3:15 p.m., her condition was still being determined by doctors.

The two Mentor firemen — 47-year-old Adam Georskey and 29-year-old Jason Duke — and the driver of the F-150, 21-year-old Mentor resident Patrick McCledon, all were transported to Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Heights.
