Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department chased a driver in a stolen ambulance in the San Fernando Valley Friday night.
LAPD confirmed that the ambulance belongs to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Sky5 arrived at the scene around 9:45 p.m. as the driver continued speeding on the westbound 210 Freeway while a trail of five police cars followed closely behind.
It’s unclear how the driver was able to access the vehicle and whether there may have been more than one passenger inside.
Based on the numbers printed on the ambulance’s exterior, the vehicle may belong to an LAFD station in Granada Hills.
The suspect eventually transitioned onto the northbound 5 Freeway before Sky5 was forced to pull away and head back to base due to weather safety issues and heavy fog.
