BRECKENRIDGE HILLS • A man was arrested early this morning in a hit-and-run crash with an ambulance in which a paramedic and patient were injured, police said.
A man driving a pickup ran a red light about 1:15 a.m. at Woodson and St. Charles Rock roads, said Detective Jeff Heisse of the Breckenridge Hills Police Department.
The collision flipped the Christian Hospital ambulance on its side, injuring a paramedic riding inside and a patient being treated in the ambulance, Heisse said.
The pickup was northbound on Woodson when it struck the westbound ambulance, Heisse said.
After the crash, Woodson Terrace police stopped the pickup truck driver and arrested him on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident, Heisse said.
Police withheld his identity pending charges.
Injuries to the paramedic and patient were not considered life-threatening. Both were taken to hospitals for treatment. Heisse did not immediately have their identities Monday morning.
