There was another horrible aviation incident last night in Philadelphia. Our hearts go out to all those directly affected, including Philly’s Firefighters and related emergency service personnel.
While all the facts on both incidents remain to be determined, these audios, along with what’s been released so far, should force every one of us (from company officers to the top brass) to review current MCI plans/policies, training/drills, radio compatibility, expected discipline, field triage, control, alarm assignments (i.e. where will 20-30 ambulances come from and how far/fast?… do have to tell your dispatcher which ones you want, or is it automatic by a simple radio transmission such as “Transmit an EMS 3rd alarm ?”) … and many related command considerations …all of which those agencies were forced to implement this week.
