One Firefighter has now died in the Line of Duty in this mornings DUI incident. Initial reports were that 2 Firefighters, a Paramedic and a Pennsylvania State Trooper were among those hurt when an out of control, reported drunk driver struck them as they were operating at another DUI crash early this morning on Interstate 76 in Montgomery County.
NOTE: This incident occurred in Lower Merion Township, where Firefighter Sean DeMuynck with the Penn Wynne Overbrook Hills Fire Company was killed in the Line of Duty earlier this month.
This morning, the members were out of their vehicles, with two fire trucks blocking the right lane and shoulder, as they worked the initial 2 car crash on the westbound lanes of the interstate in Lower Merion Township.
The first crash was not serious, but as one of the trucks from the Belmont Hills Fire Department started to pull away, a woman driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee on the right shoulder rounded one of the trucks and plowed into the members. At least two of the members were airlifted to a hospital. Much more to follow. KTIYP’s.
Take Care. Be Careful. Pass It On.
