Drunken driving was to blame in an accident involving a stopped ambulance at a Hackettstown intersection, police said.
The crash happened shortly before 10:30 p.m. Tuesday when a 30-year-old Independence Township man was driving west along Route 46, police said. When the driver attempted to turn right onto Route 604 north, the car struck the stopped Long Valley First Aid Squad ambulance, according to police.
The driver of the Kia car charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and failure to observe traffic lanes. The driver was then released pending a court hearing.
