The 34-year-old was driving non-emergency in a Prime Care EMS ambulance — when the vehicle traveled off the shoulder, causing it to overturn in a ditch. 66-year-old Wilton Thomason was not restrained in the back and died at the scene.
McCorvey was taken to the Fulton County Jail and charged with DUI, open container, and second-degree homicide by vehicle.
Manchester Fire, and AMR Ambulance responded to a dwelling fire at 196 Peabody Avenue this morning. While responding dispatch advised of multiple 911 calls. Firefighters arrived at about 0630 hours with heavy fire showing from the side of a 2.5-story residence. Firefighters were advised that several people including two adults and seven children had self-evacuated safely from the house.
Firefighters from Engine 8 made entry into the building and encountered heavy fire in and “hoarding conditions. The members became disoriented to their location and were trapped and transmitted a MAYDAY. Crews from Rescue 1 made entry into the building and the trapped firefighters were working their way out of the building and were assisted to safety. There were no injuries and the fire, which started on the first floor, is now under control. Good news.
