All,
We regret to pass on that a Dauphin County (near Harrisburg) volunteer fire chief died in the Line of Duty Thursday at a wildland fire training academy in Cumberland County.
David Warfel was Forest District Maintenance Supervisor at Weiser State Forest and was leading training at the Wildland Fire Academy at Shippensburg University at the time of his passing. He had spent the day instructing and mentoring wildland firefighters.
He was also Chief at the Carsonville Fire Company in upper Dauphin County. Reports are that his death was heart related.
Condolences to all those affected. Rest in peace.
Take care. Be careful. Pass It On.
