Update from Carbon County EMA. Director Mark S Nalesnik regarding the engine-rescue vehicle accident from last evening in Monroe County.
As was reported earlier the engine-rescue was from Albrightsville Fire Company, Carbon County they were responding to an incident on I-80 and in order to get to the scene they had to drive through a portion of Monroe County. The accident actually toke place in Monroe County.
Mark described the road and weather conditions at the time of the accident as horrible! No cause for the accident has been established at this point. The State Police and 2 local police departments were and are investigating.
There were a total of 5 personnel on the vehicle. 2 Junior fire fighters and 3 others.
The Juniors were treated and released from hospitals last night.
The 3 remaining personnel remain in hospital with their injuries.
At this point it appears as though none of the injuries are life threatening. Most injuries are broken bones.
