ONE DEAD IN MOTORCYCLE – APPARATUS CRASH IN FL

Wayne Almy said he was in the inside eastbound lane of Tennessee Street when the fire truck came through the intersection. He also saw the motorcyclist coming down White Drive. He wasn’t sure what the traffic signal looked like when the crash happened, but did say there were several vehicles in the intersection that stopped to let the fire truck through.

"Everyone else had seen the (fire truck) lights and had stopped," the 59-year-old said. "(The truck) slowed and blared its horns. You know how they do. They slow, trying to make sure everyone is aware of their presence and is coming through."

Nick Breeze saw the aftermath of the crash and saw the motorcyclist on the ground as emergency medical personnel worked on him. The 27-year-old lives off of White Drive and said he doesn’t like going through that White-Tennessee intersection. He pointed out a worn pathway through the grass near the intersection. Bicyclists use that, he said, because they don’t want to brave the intersection.

"The angles are off," he said. "They’re not 90-degree angles. A lot of people come over the hill and then you get a wall that obstructs your view."
