OHIO PARAMEDIC DIES IN CRASH Following Shift, FLA Chief Struck-Update (The Secret List)

All,

We regret to pass on that Athens County (OH) EMS Paramedic Monica Perani, age 27, was driving home Sunday after a 24-hour shift when she was in a vehicle crash. She was traveling northwest on State Route 682 in a 2024 Nissan Sentra when her vehicle was struck head-on by a 2016 Ram 1500 pick-up that went left of center.  Both drivers were wearing safety belts, and alcohol is not suspected. The striking driver had minor injuries.
She leaves behind two young boys, a large family, and many friends.
Monica served at the Athens County EMS, ValueCare in Lancaster, Genesis Community Ambulance, and at her first duty station with the Corning Volunteer Fire Department. Monica was very proud of the work she did, especially while deployed from November to December of 2024 in North Carolina to assist with hurricane recovery efforts. She was highly respected in her field and was escorted by fire departments from three counties to the funeral home.
