Bad news out of Cleveland this evening. A Firefighter was struck by a vehicle and was very critically injured.
It happened on I-90, apparently at an initial crash around 2030 hours.
The area has been hit with major snow creating very tough conditions for those responding … and those who should stay off the roads.
Cleveland EMS officials told News 19 the firefighter was a 50-year-old man and a veteran of the department.
Sgt. Jennifer Ciaccia of the Cleveland Police Department confirmed the incident was a hit-and-run and the white Chevrolet Malibu responsible has yet to be found.
Officials said police are continuing to look for the driver, who sped away after hitting the firefighter.
